Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj is organizing a picnic at Gundu Chaur in Bhaktapur on Saturday (April 5).
This is the ninth picnic program being held by the Samaj this year. The 29th full meeting of the Sarokar Samaj had decided to organize the picnic.
Earlier, the picnic had been held in various spots around the Kathmandu Valley, except for Gundu Chaur.
Talking to Nepalkhabar, Mr Dilliram Dhungel, the chairman of the Sarokar Samaj, said the picnic is being organized in order to promote unity, brotherhood and mutual cooperation among the Tehrathum residents in the Kathmandu Valley.
"We are, as always, organizing a picnic this year, too. The main objective of this picnic is to foster unity, brotherhood and shared social responsibility among the residents in the Kathmandu Valley. The picnic program will be held at Gundu Chaur in Bhaktapur on Saturday (April 5). I would like to request all the Tehrathum brothers and sisters to participate in the event."
The picnic program has been set in a way so as to make the Tehrathum people feel as if they are observing the fair in their own birth place Tehrathum.
Ke:lang (Chyabrung Dance), and Ya:lang (Dhan Naach), typical cultural dances of Limbu community, a dominant community in the district, will be showcased in the program, said Mr Haripati Lal Shrestha, the coordinator of the picnic program.

Besides, other cultural dances including folk dances, songs, raffle, games (musical chair, hot potato, and pot breaking), will feature in the program to make the program entertaining.
The first, second and third winners of the Musical Chair and Hot Potato and one winner of the Pot Breaking will be awarded with a token love and a certificate, Chairman Dhungel told Nepalkhabar.
Likewise, two eminent personalities of the district – Bhagiraj Ingnam and Mohan Mainali – the winners of the Madan Puraskar, will also be honored with khadas and letters of appreciation during the program, said Dhungel.
