Kanchanpur's Budha ,who stole over Rs 10.2 mln via phishing links, lands in police net

It has been found that over 10 million rupees of 4,000 customers have been stolen through phishing links sent via AT-Alert.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested 22-year-old Rahul Budha of Krishnapur Municipality-1, Kanchanpur, currently, staying at Anamnagar, Kathmandu for his involvement in the cybercrime.

According to the police, Budha accessed the e-Sewa accounts of various individuals by sending phishing links such as AT-Alert via SMS and asking them to verify their accounts warning that their accounts were at risk.

The police have said that Budha stole Rs 10,200,000 by transferring the amount from various e-Sewa accounts to multiple merchant accounts belonging to Pashupati Global Innovation Private Limited.

Rahul, who was arrested from Kalimati in Kathmandu on April 15, has been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu for necessary action and investigation.
