A passenger died after a Bolero vehicle traveling from Kathmandu to Pokhara collided with an Indian truck in Dhading.
According to the Dhading Police, the accident occurred around midnight Friday on the Prithvi Highway near Eklebhir in Dhading. The Bolero (Province 3-01-023 Cha 658) hit the rear part of an Indian truck (UP 32 TN 4198).
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Thulbabu Thing from Bagmati Rural Municipality-1, Lalitpur. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subas Hamal of the District Police Office, Dhading, confirmed the incident to Nepalkhabar.
Thing, who sustained critical injuries in the crash, was rushed to Kathmandu’s Trauma Center for treatment but succumbed to his injuries around 2 AM on Saturday.
Police reported that the Bolero’s driver and five other passengers escaped unharmed.
Following the accident, authorities seized the Indian truck from Jogimara along the Prithvi Highway in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-9. The truck driver, 40-year-old Kamlesh Kumar Yadav from Mohammadpur Khala, Uttar Pradesh, India, has been arrested.
DSP Hamal stated that Yadav has been detained at the Gajuri Area Police Office for further investigation. The Bolero driver has also been taken into police custody.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing, the police said.
