Post-graduate resident doctors staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala, near the Ministry of Health, on Thursday, alleging that private medical colleges failed to provide them with living allowances.
The protesting doctors demanded that private colleges adhere to the monthly salary of Rs 48,000 set by the Medical Education Commission. They claimed that despite the commission's directive, many private institutions have refused to comply, leaving them financially strained.
Representatives of private medical colleges, however, have maintained that they are unable to meet the salary standards fixed by the Commission. This ongoing dispute has intensified tensions between medical doctors and private college operators.
The demonstrators have warned of further protests if their demands are not addressed promptly. Authorities at the Ministry of Health have yet to issue an official response.
