Lightning strikes claim two in Kaski

Two people have died after being hit by lightning strikes in Annapurna Rural Municipality-11, Kaski on Sunday afternoon, the District Police Office, Kaski said.

The deceased have been identified as Bharat Kumar Rai and Mahesh Kumar Rai of Silichong Rural Municipality-4, Sankhuwasabha, DSP Basanta Kumar Sharma, the spokesperson of the DPO, Kaski said.

The lightning struck them when they were engaged in the construction work on the Tribeni Lake Foot Trail in Annapurna-11.  

The bodies are still at the incident site. A four-member team lead by Police Inspector Raj Kumar KC has left for the accident site.

Preparations are underway to take the bodies to the hospital for postmortem, the police said.
