The ruling CPN (UML) has announced its plan to increase party membership to 750,000 by the upcoming Statute General Convention.
This year has been designated as the "Year of Party's Internal Life," and the party has set a goal to raise its total membership to 6% of the total voters by the Statute General Convention, informed Madhav Dhungel, secretary at the Organization Department.
According to Dhungel, instructions have been issued to send party membership details to the provincial committees by mid-May.
"We have directed the district committees to complete new party memberships and renewals by mid-May and submit them to the provincial committees," he said. "After that, we have asked the provincial committees to submit the membership details to the central office by the third week of May."
Secretary Dhungel shared that the current party membership stands at 550,000.
He said, "Our goal is to increase party membership to 750,000 by the upcoming Statute General Convention."
The UML has scheduled its Statute General Convention from September 5 to 7.
