Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhagat Singh Koshyari has held a meeting with the chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda.

During the meeting held at Khumaltar, the residence of main opposition party leader, on Thursday morning, the two leaders discussed issues of bilateral relations and mutual interests between Nepal and India, the sources have said.

This is Prachanda's first meeting with the Indian leader after an injury he sustained by slipping in the bathroom of a resort in Lalitpur.

Koshyari, who served as the governor of the Indian State of Maharashtra from 2019 to 2023, is considered an expert of Nepal affairs.

Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Koshyari, had been the coordinator of the Eminent Persons' Group on Nepal-India Relations, a body formed to prepare a report on bilateral issues including border disputes and submit recommendations.

He is the second Indian leader visiting Nepal within a week. Only a week ago, Vijay Chauthaiwale, the head of Foreign Affairs Department of India's BJP, had arrived in Nepal. He visited over two dozen Nepali leaders including Prachanda during his three-day Nepal visit.
