The Delegation of the European Union to Nepal has announced that 21 ambassadors and representatives from EU member states based in New Delhi have gathered in Kathmandu for their annual Heads of Mission visit to Nepal. Many European diplomatic missions in Delhi also oversee Nepal-related affairs.
The ambassadors visiting Nepal from Delhi have arrived for a three-day mission from May 19 to 21, 2025. Organized in the spirit of Team Europe, the visit aims to understand Nepal’s priorities and highlight areas of cooperation, according to the EU Delegation in Nepal.
As per a press release, the program includes high-level meetings, field visits, and interactions with various stakeholders. During the visit, the delegation met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday to discuss domestic and foreign policy issues. Similarly, the team also held a courtesy meeting with Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba on Monday evening.
According to the delegation, they will also engage with civil society organizations, media, and high-level representatives from the private sector. The itinerary includes observation visits to the Bhaktapur Durbar Square area and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
"The objective is to provide EU member states with a broader perspective on Nepal’s political, social, and economic dynamics and to strengthen dialogue on shared priorities such as climate action and green growth, good governance, innovation, and inclusive development," reads the statement.
