The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has raided the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Acting on a complaint that the immigration office is fleecing foreign job aspirants with false promises of visit visas, a team of anti-graft body raided the office this afternoon.
Computers and other electronic devices have been confiscated from the office during the raid, the police said.
Meanwhile, a joint secretary of the Nepal government has been arrested by the anti-graft body. Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, joint secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, was arrested this afternoon in connection with the visit visa scam.
Bhattarai was transferred to the Home Ministry after promotion on Tuesday itself.
Earlier, he was working as the chief of immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The CIAA raided the TIA's immigration office after receiving a complaint that it was fleecing foreign job aspirants with false promises of visit visas.
The anti-graft body is recording statements from Bhattarai, a source told Nepalkhabar.
