FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal called for increased foreign investment in Nepal during high-level talks with the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva.
Meeting IOE Secretary-General Roberto Suárez Santos, Dhakal highlighted Nepal’s potential in tourism, hydropower, and information and communication technology (ICT), stressing its strategic position between India and China. "Nepal is an ideal hub for production and export to a market of 3 billion people," he said, "Nepal offers vast opportunities—global investors must not miss this chance."
During a meeting with WTO Deputy DG Zhang Xiangchen, Dhakal sought extended trade benefits and technical support as Nepal transitions from LDC status. "Graduation is a pride, but Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) need a fair transition to avoid trade shocks," he urged.
WTO’s Zhang pledged continued support for Nepal’s trade growth, while IOE praised FNCCI’s global engagement.
