Leaders of Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala faction have decided to strongly defy the disciplinary action taken by the party establishment.
A meeting of the Koirala group held at the leader's liaison office in Bishalanagar concluded that the disciplinary action taken by the establishment faction was utterly biased. After the meeting, leader Koirala stated that the disciplinary action was illegal. "The action is unlawful. It is unacceptable to single out individuals and then take action against them," Koirala said.
The meeting also decided to hold another larger gathering soon. The Koirala faction on Wednesday decided to reject the disciplinary action taken by the party's establishment faction.
The Koirala faction called for today's meeting at his liaison office after the Nepali Congress Central Disciplinary Committee took action against leaders from his faction.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, Joint General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar, leaders Arjun Narasingh KC, Bal Bahadur KC, Disciplinary Committee member Sanjaya Gautam, and other central members available in Kathmandu. Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary were also present in the meeting.
The meeting resolved to urge President Sher Bahadur Deuba not to proceed with the disciplinary process and to politically resist the disciplinary decision strongly.
During the meeting, Vice President Dhanraj Gurung expressed dissatisfaction, stating that while there had been an understanding among President Deuba, Vice Presidents, and General Secretaries not to move forward with the disciplinary committee's file at this time, the Committee Coordinator Ananda Prasad Dhungan had suddenly issued a statement and taken action yesterday without any prior discussion.
