One hundred and twenty Nepali migrant workers languishing in different prisons on various charges in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been granted amnesty.
On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, a major Islamic holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide, the UAE government has granted them amnesty, waiving their remaining prison term, according to the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Issuing a press note on Wednesday, the Nepali Embassy said, "The UAE government has granted amnesty to 120 Nepali migrant workers serving jail terms on various charges on the occasion of Eid al-Adha."
The UAE government granted amnesty to Nepalis except those involved in grave crimes.
Previously, the government had offered amnesty to Nepalis, excluding those involved in serious crimes or those who failed to show behavioral improvement.
