Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that no one can deprive her from becoming a CPN (UML) party member.

Former President Bhandari said this during a press meet organized in Kathmandu on Friday. "It is a fundamental right of an individual to involve in a party. This has been guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal. No one can revoke my fundamental right to involve in a party," said Bhandari.

She said that she felt unfair and stunned to hear that her membership has not been renewed. "I heard this from media outlets that my membership has not been renewed. It's unfair and against the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution."

Bhandari said that she has decided to serve the country and the people by uniting and consolidating the party. "Having served as the President of the country, my status now has turned into the status of a normal citizen," Bhandari said, "I have decided to serve the country and the people by uniting and consolidating the party."

She further said that she has been associated with the CPN (UML) for more than 45 years.

The party decision not to renew my long standing party membership is erroneous and unfair, said Bhandari and expressed hope the party will withdraw its decision.
