No-confidence motion lodged against Bagmati CM Lama endorsed

22 voted in favor of Baniya while 15 backed Lama

The no-confidence motion lodged against Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama, has been endorsed by a majority of lawmakers of Nepali Congress.

In the parliamentary meeting of NC Bagmati Province convened on Tuesday, 22 lawmakers voted against the motion while only 15 lawmakers voted in favor of Chief Minister Lama.

This has paved the way for Nepali Congress leader Indra Bahadur Baniya to become the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.

As many as 22 lawmakers including Baniya had lodged no confidence motion against Lama.

The votes of no confidence motion were divided in the presence of Rajan KC, the central working committee (CWC) member and observer of Nepali Congress.

There are 37 NC lawmakers in the 110-member Bagmati Province Assembly.
