Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has vehemently stated that those who do not abide by the Constitution and undermine democratic system are disrupting the parliament.
Releasing the book titled 'Loktantra Ra Janaabhimat: Nepalko Nirbachan Itihas' written by former Chief Election Commissioner Surya Prasad Shrestha at a program in Kathmandu on Sunday, Prime Minister Oli said that those who are disrupting parliamentary proceedings are undemocratic forces, referring to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
He stated that while people are free to express their views within the constitutional and legal framework, it is wrong to undermine the Constitution and democratic system.
The democratic system is not flawed in itself but certain attitudes act as stumbling blocks in its effective implementation, said Oli.
"The government should be responsible in the democratic system and accountable for the people. The government never becomes ruler but only manager and servant," said Oli, "Our goal is to ensure good governance and prosperity. The government does not need to enforce law unless the people go anarchic. The law must take its course only when things go anarchic."
Refuting the speakers' allegations that the candidates spend beyond the set limits during the elections, Oli said that he never interfered with the Election Commission and other related bodies to ensure free and fair elections during his tenures as the Home Minister and the Prime Minister.
