Three killed, 17 injured in Sunsari bus-TATA Winger collision

Three people died and 17 others sustained injuries when a bus and a TATA Wingers collided with each other at Jaluwa Tole in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-3 along the East-West Highway in Sunsari district on Monday morning.

According to the police, the accident occurred at around 7:15 am when a bus (Na 1 Kha 1799) heading toward Diktel, Khotang from Kankadbhitta collided head-on with a TATA Winger (Pra 2-01-001 Ja 0047) coming from the opposite direction.

Two people died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment, taking the death toll to three, police said.

Among the 15 injured undergoing treatment at Global Cardio and Neuro Hospital in Bhokraha, two men died, while a woman undergoing treatment at Sunsari District Hospital in Inaruwa also passed away.

Among the injured, the condition of four is critical, 12 are in moderate condition, and one is in normal condition, said SP Suman Timalsina of the District Police Office, Sunsari.

Their identities are yet to be ascertained.

The bus driver, 36-year-old Gopal Adhikari from Arjundhara Municipality-1, Jhapa, has been taken under control, while the TATA Winger driver is injured and undergoing treatment.
