A Bhutanese refugee, who went to the US from Nepal, killed himself after shooting his wife and son dead in Dallas, Texas.

According to local media, 53-year-old Lalit Pradhan, who reached Dallas, Texas, under the refugee resettlement program in 2008/09, shot dead his 37-year-old wife Rajani Shrestha Pradhan and their 3-year-old son Pranish before killing himself.

According to Fox 4 News, the incident occurred on Saturday morning (local time) at the 1900 block of Dudley Street. When police reached the scene, Rajani and Pranish were found dead, while Lalit, who was critically injured, was immediately taken to the hospital but died in the course of treatment.

Lalit had lived in various Bhutanese refugee camps in Nepal for a long time before coming to the US about 15 years ago under a program run by IOM and the US government. Before moving to the US, his family had been living in the Pathari camp in Morang.

Earlier on Saturday, Lalit had posted a status on Facebook mentioning that he was facing problems due to lack of medical and other facilities.

A Bhutanese community leader informed via local media outlet that Rajani's maternal house is in Kathmandu.
