Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is arriving in Nepal today to formally invite Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for an official visit to India.
According to a press note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Misri is scheduled to land in Kathmandu on Sunday morning via an Indian Army aircraft.
The Indian side has proposed a visit to India for Oli from September 16 to 17. However, the exact dates of the visit have not been finalized yet.
Foreign Secretary Misri will meet Prime Minister Oli and formally hand over the invitation letter from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the visit to India.
Foreign Secretary Misri is also scheduled to pay courtesy call on the President, hold discussions with the Foreign Minister, the Foreign Secretary, and other officials. He will return to India on Monday.
Misri is visiting Nepal at the invitation of Foreign Secretary of Nepal, Amrit Bahadur Rai.
During the visit, the two secretaries will hold discussions focusing on various aspects of Nepal-India partnership, including connectivity, development cooperation, and matters of mutual interest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
