An agreement has been reached at Sheetal Niwas to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister of Nepal by dissolving the federal parliament.

The meeting held between former Chief Justice Karki and President Ramchandra Paudel facilitated by Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel took a decision to this effect, according to a source at Sheetal Niwas.

With the agreement, President is making preparations to appoint Karki as the first Prime Minister of Nepal. She will be sworn in as the Prime Minister at 9 pm, Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel told Nepalkhabar.

"President Paudel is making preparation to appoint former Chief Justice as the Prime Minister of Nepal. She will be sworn in as at 9 pm," said Pokharel, "After taking the oath, Karki will form a small interim government. The first meeting of the government will dissolve the parliament," said Pokharel.

Earlier, the meeting had been deadlocked after Karki took a stand that she would not be ready to become the Prime Minister without dissolving the parliament.

The agreement was reached after Paudel backtracked from his stance to dissolve the parliament following the warning by the Gen Z's warning that they would picket the Office of the Parliament.
