The 9th National Games kicked off at the Pokhara Stadium in the tourist city of Pokhara on Friday.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun officially inaugurated the mega sports event participated by players, officials, and spectators amidst a special ceremony.
Even though it was officially inaugurated today, many games have been taking place in various districts of Gandaki Pradesh since October 9.
There are a total of 38 games including 36 matches and two exhibitions in the national games.
A total of 6,157 athletes from 11 teams representing seven provinces, three departments, and one Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) are taking part in the competition.
Nepal has been organizing a national sports competition since 2038 BS.
