Health services across the country have been affected due to the ongoing strike staged by nurses.

Hospital health services have been impacted after nurses launched an agitation demanding that the salaries, allowances, and benefits of nurses working in private hospitals and medical colleges be made equivalent to those of nurses employed in government health institutions.

Nurses have upped the ante nationwide, which began on September 26, demanding equal pay to that of government employees. Nurses working in all health institutions across the country staged a protest by boycotting services for two hours (from 10 am to 12 pm) starting October 29.

Nurses from major government hospitals like Bir and Teaching have also been staging protests in solidarity.

Nurses across the country are currently protesting with a 15-point demand, including the demand for remuneration under the fifth government service category, the creation of nursing positions in schools, promotion, and permanency.

The movement has intensified nationwide after private medical college operators stated that they cannot pay nurses on a par with those working in government hospitals.
