The majority of central committee member of CPN (Unified Socialist) have voiced in favor of uniting with CPN (Maoist Center).
The CC members spoke in favor of the unification during the CC meeting of Unified Socialist that concluded on Friday, Vice-Chairman Jagannath Khatiwada informed Nepalkhabar.
However, respected leader Jhalanath Khanal, General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal, leaders Ram Kumari Jhankri, Ghanendra Basnet, Bijaya Paudel, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Laxman Lamsal, Damodar Aryal, Ashok Ghimire, Akil Hussein Khan, Hari Parajuli, and others stood against the unification.
Laxman Lamsal, who opposed the unification, shared that the majority of the CC members stood in favor of unification. "The CC meeting added additional 88 CC members yesterday, taking the CC to 419 members," he told Nepalkhabar, "Among them, about 200 may have spoken so far. Of those, the majority seem to be in favor of unification."
Leader Bamdev Gautam, who openly voiced in favor of unification, stressed the need to proceed with the goal of uniting even with UML. "We must move forward with unification campaign, securing the confidence of all parties, including UML," he stated.
