The Nepali Army’s court martial has taken action against Major General Prem Shahi on the alleged charge of violating the military discipline.

The headquarters of the Nepali Army today took Shahi into custody for his alleged involvement in the activities against the military organization.

Shahi was retiring on January 4, 2023 on the ground of age. He had also received a letter of retirement.

He had moved the Supreme Court twice against the military headquarters and the Ministry of Defense alleging that they fabricated his birth details making him one year older than the actual age.

On December 28, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order in favor of Shahi ordering the NA not to implement the decision to send him on retirement.

With the SC’s interim order, Shahi on Tuesday reached the headquarters to carry out his duties. But a team of NA took him under control.

“The NA is carrying out investigation on Shahi after keeping him into custody,” said Krishna Bhandari, the spokesperson of the NA.

He will be kept at the NA headquarters until the investigation on Shahi is completed, said Bhandari.
