Youths who have passed the language and skill tests under the Employment Permit System (EPS) but are still unable to go to South Korea have staged a protest.
On Tuesday, they gathered at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu to voice their demands, following a previous demonstration in front of the EPS office in Gwarko, Lalitpur.
They have demanded an extension of the roster period. Young people who have passed the EPS are allowed to go to South Korea within two years after being selected by an employer. If they are not selected by an employer within two years of passing the EPS, their names are removed. Young people whose names are removed from the roster will have to take the language test again.
Currently, young people who have passed the EPS are also unable to go to Korea because they are not selected by an employer. Their roster period is ending. That is why they have demonstrated demanding an extension of the roster period.
