The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the Election Commission (EC) has informed the diplomatic missions of different countries and the chiefs and representatives of the UN agencies based in Kathmandu regarding the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5.
The Kathmandu-based diplomatic missions were informed about ongoing preparations, election environment and the monitoring of HoR elections from national and international observers, the EC officials shared on Sunday.
In a news conference on Sunday, the EC stated that printing of the ballot papers under the proportional representation electoral system was over and ballot paper printing under the direct electoral system for 25 districts were completed so far.
EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that EC has prioritized the task of identifying harmful information circulating in different media platforms as well as recommendations for actions against those involved.
Furthermore, the EC has held discussions with the business community regarding the role and responsibility of the private sector in the upcoming HoR elections. The EC discussed with the chiefs and representatives of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), CNI, NCC, Hotel Association of Nepal, Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal and other related institutions.
