On November 27, Mukesh and Ambika took their vows to live together before the Kankalini Mai Temple. Soon after taking the sacred vow, their marriage was legally registered. However, neither the temple deities nor the legal documents could keep their hearts united.

In less than two months of marriage, this love story met with a tragic end on Wednesday morning in Bahuwan, Rangeli-5.

Mukesh Kumar Mandal, 21, committed suicide after killing his 21-year-old wife, Ambika Kumari Mandal, at her parental home. The incident, which occurred late Monday night, has left the village in a state of shcok.

According to the police, the newlyweds' relationship began to deteriorate shortly after their wedding. As the disputes escalated, a complaint of physical assault reached the police Women’s Cell. Although they were sent home after a mediated settlement, the relationship failed to improve, the distance between them grew, and they began living separately.

Around 6:30 pm on Monday, Mukesh went to Ambika’s parental home. He insisted on staying, saying, "I am her husband, I will stay with her." After failed attempts by the family to persuade him otherwise, the couple was allowed to sleep in the same room. At around 2:45 am, Ambika's mother was woken by screams coming from the room. She rushed to the door, but it was locked from the inside.

"When looking through the window, the room was already drenched in blood," said a Morang Police official. "Ambika had already passed away, while Mukesh was struggling with a slit throat."

According to SP Kabit Katuwal, chief of the Morang Police, preliminary investigations suggest that Mukesh killed his wife with a knife before slitting his own throat. "It appears this gruesome incident was the result of a domestic dispute taking a violent turn," SP Katuwal stated. "We have launched an investigation into the incident."

On Tuesday morning, a team including forensic doctors from Koshi Hospital examined the scene. Both bodies have been sent to Koshi Hospital for post-mortem.
