A tipper driver who sustained injuries in a bus collision at Thakre in Dhading on Sunday has died.
The deceased has been identified as Sujan Tamang, 35, of Syaule, Dhunibesi Municipality-9, Dhading.
An ill-fated bus (Pro 3-01-006 Kha 1552) heading to Kathmandu from Dang collided with another bus (Bagmati Pro 01-006 Kha 5206) heading to Rasuwa from Kathmandu at 7:30 am today.
After the collision, both buses hit a zinc-roofed eatery on the side of the road, causing further damage, said Dhading Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Dahal.
According to Dahal, the tea shop of Khageshwar Sharma, who is currently operating a shop in Dashkila, a permanent resident of Banke Baijanath Rural Municipality-1, was also damaged after the two buses collided.
Meanwhile, police have stated that 35-year-old Sujan Tamang, a resident of Dhunibeshi Municipality-9, Syaule, who was having tea and snacks after stopping a tipper near the shop at the time of the accident, succumbed to his injuries.
He was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the National Trauma Center in Kathmandu for treatment. Doctors pronounced him dead at 10 am.
A girl, Sukhata Pulami Magar, who was travelling in a bus going to Rasuwa from Kathmandu, sustained minor injuries in the accident. She was discharged after treatment at Thakre Polyclinic, police have stated.
The other passengers are safe.
After the accident, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Khanikhola and Police Post, Mahadevbensi, rescued the injured and sent them to Kathmandu for treatment.
The drivers of both buses involved in the accident are under police control are investigating the cause of the accident, according to the District Police Office, Dhading.
