Scooter driver killed in Banepa tipper hit identified as Oman Pradhan of Kavre; tipper driver arrested

The scooter driver killed in a tripper strike in Banepa has been identified.

The deceased has been identified as Oman Pradhan, 31, of Dhulikhel Municipality-8, Kavre, currently residing in Dhulikhel Municipality-5, according to the District Police Office, Kavre.

The tipper driver involved in the accident, Deepak Rokka, 32, of Indrawati Rural Municipality-6, Sindhupalchowk, has also been arrested by the police.

Pradhan died on the spot when a tipper with the number Bagmati Province 02-063 Pa 9189, struck his scooter, Bagmati Province 01-004 Ka 3423, at Chandani Chowk in Banepa Municipality-7.

Pradhan, whose identity was not established earlier, was identified based on his driver's license, informed DSP Rabin Bista of the District Police Office, Kavre.

The police have kept the body of the deceased at Scheer Memorial Hospital, Banepa.

Locals have set fire to the tipper that hit the scooter. The tension flared in Banepa after the irate locals set the tipper ablaze, disrupting the transportation along the Arniko Highway.

Police have said that traffic has now resumed after the torched tipper was removed from the road.
