Commitment to democracy articulated thru enthusiastic voting: NC President Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa noted that an unwavering loyalty and firm commitment toward democracy were demonstrated well with enthusiastic and active participation of the voters in today's House of Representatives election.

Issuing a statement after the completion of the election on Thursday, President Thapa extended his gratitude and reverence towards all including voters contributing to conduct this election.

He reiterated, "The enthusiasm and active participation shown by voters across the country in the House of Representatives election have once again strongly manifested an unrelenting loyalty and firm commitment of the Nepali people to democracy."

President Thapa observed that the enthusiasm of the voters in this election had reinforced their dedication towards democratic system on the one hand while the voters' enthusiastic involvement in the electoral process reminded the political parties and the upcoming government of their responsibility to meet public's expectations on the other.

He also extended thankfulness to the interim government and the Election Commission for successfully conducting election in a peaceful environment with the exception of a few incidents in some constituencies. The NC President also thanked civil employees, security personnel, political parties, media persons and national and international election observers for their responsible roles in making today's election a grand success.
