Harkaraj Rai of Shram Sanskriti Party wins HoR seat from Sunsari-1

In the House of Representatives election conducted on March 5, Harkaraj Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party has been elected from Sunsari Constituency 1.

Election Officer Divyaraj Ghimire reported that Rai won with 35,741 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Goma Tamang of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who received 27,249 votes. Additionally, Tikaram Limbu of the CPN (UML) garnered 6,463 votes.

The electoral contest featured 26 candidates from 19 different parties and seven independents. This electoral area, which includes 27 wards such as Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, Barahkshetra, and Ramdhuni, had 150,393 registered voters, with 87,865 votes cast.
