The United Nations General Assembly has adopted the resolution "International Wellness Day" proposed by Nepal, designating April 16 each year as International Wellness Day.

Nepal's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, tabled the resolution in the UN General Assembly.

Nepal's proposal was unanimously adopted by the UN General Assembly, the Nepal's Permanent Mission to the UN stated in a press statement.

The resolution underscores that health goes beyond the absence of illness—embracing physical, mental, social, cultural, emotional, and ecological well-being. "It also promotes preventive care, healthy lifestyles, and inclusive health systems to build stronger and more resilient societies worldwide."
