Swasthani Brata, a month-long holy ritual of Hindus, has started from today (Friday).

This holy ritual is observed in Nepal by Hindus from the Nepali month Poush Shukla Purnima to Magh Shukla Purnima by performing dedicated rituals.

Devotees have thronged the Shalinadi in Shankhu to take holy dips where a Swasthani festival is taking place. It is believed that people will free from sins if they take baths in the sacred river Salinadi on this occasion.

The devotees take holy baths in the morning, worship God Mahadeva and listen to Swasthani Brata Katha in the evening.
