United States (US) Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Samir Paul Kapur, has arrived in Kathmandu this morning.
Kapoor was welcomed by the US Charge d'Affaires, Scott Urbom at the US Embassy in Kathmandu.
“We warmly welcome US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Samir Paul Kapur to Nepal,” the embassy said while posting a photo welcoming Assistant Secretary Kapoor. “He will meet with government officials, business leaders, and cultural experts to further strengthen the US-Nepal partnership during his visit.”
Following a briefing with Charge d'Affaires Scott Urbom, Kapur headed to Lamichhane's residence in Italitar to meet with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.
Lamichhane's residence is on the way from Maharajgunj to Budhanilkantha, a short distance from the US Embassy.
Assistant Secretary of State Kapoor is a top US diplomat to visit Nepal since the Balen Shah-led government was formed.
He left the US with the sole purpose of visiting Nepal. US Secretaries of State and senior officials often visit Kathmandu as a stopover during their visits to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, or other South and Southeast Asian countries.
