Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle and US Assistant Secretary of State Samir Paul Kapur have held a bilateral meeting. The meeting, held at the Finance Ministry in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, was ‘centered on economic cooperation’.
According to a source at the Finance Ministry, discussions ranged from strengthening bilateral relations to increasing US investment in Nepal during the meeting.
US diplomat, who arrived on a three-day visit to Nepal, said to have had a wonderful meeting with Finance Minister Wagle today.
"I had a great discussion with Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle about efforts to improve the business climate and attract US companies to Nepal," Assistant Secretary of State Kapoor said. "Closer business ties will boost Nepal’s transportation, energy, and digital infrastructure bringing economic growth that benefits both of our countries."
Representatives of the US Embassy in Nepal and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present during the meeting.
His statement was made public by the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs under the US Department of State.
Visiting Assistant Secretary of State, who arrived on a three-day official visit to Nepal, also met with Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal this moring.
On Monday, he met with the President of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, and took stock of the party's priorities. He also held a meeting with Nepali information technology (IT) entrepreneurs. During the meeting, he discussed strengthening digital infrastructure in Nepal.
Kapur is a top US diplomat to visit Nepal since the formation of the Balen-led government.
