The Nepali Congress faction led by outgoing acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka is holding a meeting at Hotel Smart in Maharajgunj. Briefing on contemporary political developments in the meeting, Khadka has floated four key conditions for the NC unity.
Speaking for about 30 minutes at the initial briefing, Khadka said that the faction led by President Gagan Thapa should accept at least four conditions for party unity.
First, he said that the Central Working Committee (CWC) from the Special General Convention and the CWC from the 14th General Convention should be integrated, emphasizing that the integrated CWC should carry out its work forward.

Second, Khadka's condition is that the 15th General Convention Organizing Committee should be formed by including both parties. Third, he said that the Central Election Committee for the 15th General Assembly should also be formed by including CWC members of the factions.
Fourth, Khadka set a condition that an active membership investigation committee should also be formed by including the members from both factions on the basis of consensus.
He said that party unity will remain if all these four issues are addressed. He asserted that the ball is in the hands of President Thapa and Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma to decide whether to maintain party unity or not.
For this, he gave an example from the past. "NC was divided in 2059 BS and was also unified in 2064 BS by Girija Prasad Koirala," a leader privy to the meeting quoted Khadka as saying, "Now, NC is on the verge of split because of the Gagan-Bishwa faction, and now the responsibility of unifying the division lies with it."

On April 21, Thapa had reached Khadka’s residence to meet him. Khadka said that the government’s work and other latest political issues were discussed during that meeting.
"He said he would discuss with Bishwa Prakash and bring a concrete proposal for unity," Khadka said. "There has been no discussion since then."
Office bearers elected through the 14th General Convention, CWC members, district presidents, provincial presidents, regional presidents available in Kathmandu, and office bearers of sister organizations are attending the meeting.
