Five-star crowne plaza hotel, built by CG Holdings at Pulchowk, Lalitpur will come into operation from coming November.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), a leading global hospitality company, is making a comeback to Nepal in the luxury hospitality sector. Five years after ending its 26-year management tenure at the iconic Soaltee Hotel in May 2021, the British multinational has partnered with CG Holdings to manage a brand-new five-star hotel under its premium Crowne Plaza brand in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.

Owned by Arun Chaudhary's CG Holdings, the hotel is in its final stages of completion after a seven-year journey. The project’s groundbreaking took place in April 2019 but faced prolonged delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic slowdown. Initially estimated at an investment of Rs 2.55 billion, the total cost has risen significantly. CG Holdings, which has been aggressively expanding its hospitality footprint, also operates the Bhangeri Darbar Boutique Hotel in Nagarkot, Meraki in Budhanilkantha, and Tigerland Resort in Chitwan.

Spanning over nine ropanis of land, the 12-story hotel blends modern luxury with traditional Nepali warmth, featuring local handicrafts and contemporary interiors. It offers 175 premium rooms, including a Presidential Suite, four Executive Suites, eight Junior Suites, two accessible rooms, and 160 standard rooms. Key attractions include a 360-degree rooftop lounge with Himalayan views, an outdoor restaurant named ‘Faces Al Fresco’, a 10th-floor Club Lounge, a rooftop swimming pool, a health club, and a luxury spa.

Positioned to become a major hub for international conferences, grand weddings, and corporate events, the hotel features a massive banquet hall equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual systems.

"The hotel features 175 rooms, including a Presidential Suite, four Executive Suites, eight Junior Suites, two accessible rooms, 62 standard twin rooms, and 98 standard king-size rooms," said Jayadev Dutta, the newly appointed General Manager of the hotel.

According to senior officials at CG Holdings, the hotel is scheduled to become fully operational this coming November, marking a significant milestone in elevating Kathmandu’s luxury tourism and lifestyle.

The Crowne Plaza brand under IHG operates 400 hotels in more than 100 countries around the world. There are more than 20 brands under the IHG group. More than 6,600 hotels are operated under these brands worldwide.
