Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is preparing for an official visit to China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday. While the specific itinerary is still being finalized, the Ministry confirmed that internal preparations are underway for this high-level visit to Nepal's northern neighbor.
The announcement comes shortly after Minister Khanal concluded a productive three-day official visit to India. Addressing the media, Minister Khanal emphasized that all state bodies, political parties, and the press must maintain a unified stance on matters of national interest. He urged sensitivity in reporting foreign affairs and shared his vision for institutional reforms, including upgrading physical infrastructure and manpower at Nepali missions abroad.
Sharing his future plans, the Minister outlined several key initiatives, such as strengthening the Institute of Foreign Affairs, launching the "Lumbini Fellowship," and hosting a geostrategic conference. He also pledged to resolve ongoing technical challenges regarding biometric passports. Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai added that the Ministry remains committed to driving economic prosperity and good governance through its diplomatic efforts.
