Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has urged one and all not to pressurize him to arrest any people against the law.
Lamichhane said so while delivering his views in the meeting of the House of Representatives called to elect the Speaker today.
Asking votes for Devraj Ghimire, a candidate for the post of the speaker fielded by the ruling coalition, in the meeting, Lamichhane said so while responding to Ramhari Khatiwada’s request to arrest a murder-accused lawmaker.
Earlier, speaking in the meeting, Khatiwada, a lawmker of Nepali Congress, urged Home Minister Lamichhane to issue an arrest warrant saying that a murder-accused is present in the meeting.
“Lawmaker (Ramhari Khatiwada) said that a murder-accused lawmaker is present in the meeting. He should be arrested right away. The Home Ministry will not arrest anybody going against the law, nor will it transfer any officials breaching the regulations,” said Lamichhane.
He urged the lawmakers not to intervene in the work of the Home Ministry.
“We will implement the law in a letter and spirit. We will remain committed to it,” said he.
