Five DIGs recommended for AIG

Five Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG)s of Nepal Police have been recommended for promotion to Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG).

A meeting of the promotion committee under the Home Ministry on Friday recommended the promotion of DIGs Basant Bahadur Kunwar, Tek Prasad Rai, Deepak Thapa, Shyamalal Gyawali and Kiran Bajracharya to the post of AIG.

Before the presidential election, the Home Ministry sent a letter to the Election Commission seeking permission for the promotion. 

The five policemen were recommended to be promoted to AIG on Friday after the Commission gave permission.

The Election Commission has imposed a code of conduct till the 19th of March. The election of the Vice President will be held on March 17.

The incumbent IGP Dhiraj Pratap Singh and the remaining 3 AIGs will go on compulsory leave from March 25, but the DIG of Police was the one who would lead thereafter.
