Senior leader of Nepali Congress Dr Shekhar Koirala has taken strong exception to the government’s preparation to bring a provision to tap phone of any individuals.
The government is making preparations to introduce the provision of phone tapping by replacing the existing provision that allows to track the location of a person only with the court’s order.
Speaking at a program, leader Koirala said phone tapping of an individual under any pretext would be unacceptable as it violates the right to privacy guaranteed by the Constitution.
“Pone tapping of any individuals under any pretexts is unacceptable. It will violate the right to privacy,” said Koirala.
Meanwhile, he has drawn the attention of parties, human rights activists, civil society, and media persons towards such activities as they are connected to the national security.
