Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to participate in the government under the leadership of Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka.
An office-bearers' meeting of the party held at the residence of President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Dhumbarahi today (Saturday) agreed in principle to this issue.
A separate meeting of the President, Vice President, and General Secretary on Sunday will take a final decision to this effect, an NC office-bearer told Nepalkhabar.
"President Deuba has also wanted the leadership of Khadka. Today's meeting discussed this issue in principle. But the names of ministers to participate in the government were not discussed. A meeting of the President, Vice President, and General Secretary scheduled for tomorrow will dwell on it," said the leader, "A meeting of the central work execution will take an official decision on Monday."
According to this leader, the NC is making preparations to take the Ministry of Finance.
The NC will lay a claim on eight ministries even though the parties in the ruling coalition are in favor of giving only seven ministries to it.
"Parties in the coalition are in favor of giving only seven ministries but we are laying a claim on all eight ministries," a source quoted Khadka as saying.
