“...What happened? I didn't know anything. My face started burning badly, I went up screaming, the pain of burning was unbearable. I looked for water on the roof, but could not find it. I sat down on the ground. When my father came, he knew by the smell - there was an acid attack on me.”
RSP has decided to write a letter to the Election Commission to elect Bindabasini Kansakar from the proportional representation list after stripping Dhaka Kumar Shrestha of party membership.
RSP should send a letter to the Parliament Secretariat to formally dismiss Shrestha. After the letter sent to the Parliament Secretariat was read by the Speaker in the meeting of the House of Representatives, Dhaka Kumar’s MP’s post will be vacant.
After the speaker informs that his post is vacant, the Election Commission will start the necessary process of electing a new member of parliament. RSP has already decided to promote Kansakar to the vacant post of lawmaker.
Kansakar of Makwanpur, who is also a central member of the RSP, is an acid victim. She had an acid attack 10 years ago. She was a district member since the establishment of RSP and was nominated as a central member by party chairman Rabi Lamichhane only a few weeks ago.
An Indian national called Keshari attacked her with acid after she rejected his marriage proposal.
He was a good friend of Bindabasini’s cousin by her aunt (father’s sister).
After becoming close for some time, he started pressing for marriage. Bindabasini started avoiding as much as she could, thinking that she should stay away from that man.

Parents’ wedding anniversary preparations were being made to make the anniversary grand as a celebration.
At that moment Keshari appeared in front of the shop. Bindabasini pretended not to see him. He slowly approached her with a small jar of acid, splashed it on her face and ran away.
She began to scream with an unimaginable irritation.
When the father realized that someone had poured acid on his daughter's face, he cried and started pouring water. Bindabasini says that even now, she gets goosebumps when she remembers that moment.
Bindabasini, who suffered severe physical and mental injuries, continued to fight for justice.
She fought continuously for 8 years.
"When I didn't get justice, my heart was burning as much as it was on my face after an acid attack," she says. As the tears trickled down, the acid-burnt skin became even hotter.'
Finally, two years ago, the perpetrator was brought to justice. Keshari was sentenced to eight in jail along with a fine of 11.4 million rupees on the charge of homicide. But she says that 'justice delayed is justice denied’.
She has been fighting for a long time under the pain of acid attack and says that no other party supported her before. Her face was badly damaged. So far, she has undergone 20 facial surgeries.
But she is now happy that RSP has supported her.
She was a proportional candidate from Makwanpur in the general election held on November 20. RSP received more than 39,000 votes under the proportional category.
But she still does not feel much justice from the state.
"My family, especially my father, is the backbone of what I have become now," she says, "I didn't feel much justice from the state."
But now she vows to raise her voice in parliament so that other victims can trust the state.
Having suffered from acid attack, she said that she will now stand on the floor of the Parliament and insist on making a law to get justice for acid victims like her.
"The law on acid attack brought by the government is weak, I will take the initiative to amend it so that acid victims will easily get justice," she said.
