The year 2079 BS, which is popular among Nepali people, has ended today. Along with 2079 BS, the entire decade of the 2070s has also taken a leave from the Nepali people.
The span of 10 years proved to be a turning point in Nepal's politics, with the promulgation of the new constitution.
After the second Constituent Assembly election in 2013, the new constitution of Nepal was promulgated on September 20, 2015. Nepal adopted an inclusive federal democratic republic creating seven provinces across the country.
Although the Nepali people have made significant political achievements during this decade, the country could not take a leap economically as expected.
The political leadership failed to rein in rising unemployment, youth migration, corruption and irregularities.

While this decade is coming to an end, the country is reeling under a financial crisis with an over Rs 2 trillion trade deficit.
The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), elected a new leadership on the eve of New Year 2080 (today). Even though the financial crisis is increasing, businesspersons are optimistic about the new leadership of the private sector.
The view of the final sunset captured by the Nepalkhabar crew from Teku Dobhan (confluence) in Kathmandu are as follows:
