Nepal have defeated Malaysia by six wickets in the ACC Premier Cup cricket tournament held in Kirtipur on Tuesday.
Chasing the 236-run target set by Malaysia, Nepal reached the target in 36.2 overs by losing four wickets.
Bhim Sharki topped the score with 71 runs including five fours off 98 balls. Similarly, Kushal Malla hit 70 not out runs including five fours and five sixes off 40 balls while Rohit Paudel collected 42 runs.
In reply, Muhammad Wafiq, Rizwan Haider, Vijay Unni and Virandeep Singh took one wicket each for Malaysia.
Earlier, electing to bat fist after winning the toss, Malaysia notched up 235 runs in the allotted 50 overs losing nine wickets.
Ahmad Faiz topped the score with 76 runs including eight fours and one six off 95 balls. Similarly, Virandeep Singh hits 46 runs including two fours off 94 deliveries while Khizar Hayat collected 22 runs.
In reply, Sandeep Lamichhanee and Sompal Kami claimed three wickets each while Lalit Rajbanshi took two wickets for Nepal.
Similarly, in a match held at Mulpani Cricket Ground, Hong Kong defeated Singapore by eight wickets.
The 10 teams participating in the Premier Cup are divided into two groups. Group A includes hosts Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
Group B consists of UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, and Bahrain. The Premier Cup will be held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and Mulpani Cricket Ground till May 1.
The top two teams in the group will qualify for the semi-finals.
