Surya Nepal Premier Golf C’ship to tee off on Tuesday

Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, the final tournament of this season of Surya Nepal Golf Tour, will be teeing off from tomorrow (Tuesday).

The final tournament of the season will decide the number one player of Nepal between Bhuwan Nagarkoti and Shukra Bahadur Rai.

Nepal's number one Shukra Bahadur Rai is in the race to become the next season's number one after beating Bhuwan Nagarkoti in prize money.

Nagarkoti has earned Rs 5 hundred 13 thousand 500 so far while Rai  has earned 4 hundre 94 thousand.

Rai did not play in two of the seven tournaments this season. Deepak Archaya said that Sanjay Lama, who is in the third place, earned 3 hundred 52 thousand 500 rupees followed by Dinesh Prajapati (fourth place) with 3 hundred 65 thousand, while  Jayaram Shrestha, who is in the fifth place, earned 2 hundred 94 thousand 750 rupees.

In the competition to be held at Gokarna Golf Club, this time, amateur players are giving tough competition to professional golfers. This time, amateur athletes, double gold medalist of the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) Subash Tamang and Sadbhav Acharya are giving tough competition to the professional golfers.

The total prize money of Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship is 15.2 million rupees. The winner of the competition will get a purse of Rs 270,000 and the runner-up will receive Rs 170,000. The third will get Rs 120,000, the fourth will take home Rs 100,000 and the fifth will pocket Rs 86,000. Golfers who finish the top 21 will also receive prize money.

As many as 41 professional golfers and 21 amateurs will tee off in the tournament. A day will consist of 18 holes in a total of 72 holes. After the 36-hole tournament, the top 21 professional golfers and 6 amateurs will make their journey to the final 36 holes.

Meanwhile, the Pro-am Surya Nepal Golf Championship will be held from Saturday. Where 25 professional golfers and 100 amateurs will tee off in an exciting format, said Rabindra Man Shrestha, president of Nepal Professional Golf Association.
