Man tries to self-immolate at Maitighar Mandala (with photos/video)

A man has tried to self-immolate at Maitighar Mandala in the capital city of Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon.

The man, who was staging a sit-in demanding a citizenship at Maitighar Mandala, tried to self-immolate after dousing himself in petrol, SP Sitaram Rijal, the spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, told Nepalkhabar.

“A man tried to self-immolate by dousing himself in fire,” said Rijal, “His name and address are yet to be ascertained. He has been taken to National Trauma Center for treatment.”

The agitator who sustained injuries after setting a fire to himself was taken under control and rushed to the hospital. The condition of stateless agitator, who is named as Niraj, is said to be out of danger.
