Jitendra Basnet has been appointed as the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu.
Joint Secretary Basnet, who was currently serving as the spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been given the responsibility of district head of Kathmandu.
The post of the CDO lay vacant after outgoing CDO Ghana Shyam Upadhyaya was promoted to the post of secretary by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.
After Baikuntha Aryal was appointed as the chief secretary, Upadhyaya got the responsibility of secretary.
Earlier, Basnet was the head of the security and coordination division of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the spokesman as well.
He has previously worked as the Director General of the National Identity Card and Registration Department.
Basnet has already served as CDO of Gorkha, Chitwan and Parsa districts.
