Pakistan entered the final by defeating New Zealand by seven wickets in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia on Wednesday.
Chasing the 153-run target set by New Zealand, Pakistan reached it in 19.1 overs losing three wickets.
Mohammad Rizwan topped the score with 57 runs including five fours off 43 deliveries. Similarly, Babar Azam notched up 53 runs including seven fours off 42 balls while Mohammad Haris made 30 runs.
In reply, Trent Boult took two wickets and Mitchell Santner grabbed one wicket for New Zealand. The other batsmen could not take any wickets.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, New Zealand notched up 152 runs losing four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Daryl Mitchell topped the score with 53 not-out runs including three fours and one six off 35 deliveries. Similarly, Kane Williamson made 46 runs while Devon Conway contributed 21 runs.
In reply, Shaheen Shah Afridi took two wickets while Mohammad Nawaz grabbed one wicket for Pakistan.
The second semi-final match between India, the winner of group B, and England, the first runner-up of group A, is scheduled to take place at the Adelaide Oval Cricket Ground in Adelaide, Australia at 1:45 pm on Thursday.
Similarly, the final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia on next Sunday (November 13).
