Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has been searching the owner of 100 kilos of gold seized outside the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on July 18.
The DRI has raided some of the godowns in some places of Kathmandu and collected some evidences in the course of investigation.
The DRI that got 90 days’ timeline has arrested a total of 18 people so far. A gold casting machine was recovered at Baluwatar, 66 brake parts of motorcycles were found at Sohrakhutte and a gold processing plant was found at Tokha.
Chinese citizen, Zeqiang Lin and Belgium citizen of Tibetan origin Dawa Chhiring have been arrested and an investigation is underway to find out their involvement in the gold case.
Similarly, Rakesh Adukia, Deepak Malhotra and Sanjaya Babaiya are also being investigated. Adukia is still at large, said an official at the DRI.
The DRI has recovered so far four machines – brake shoe cutting machine, gold processing machine, weighing machine and gold casting machine.
