Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha recommended as new CJ

A meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) has recommended Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal.

A CC meeting held on Thursday evening recommended Shrestha’s name for the post of Chief Justice, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina told Nepalkhabar.

Incumbent Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki who was appointed on June 16 is retiring on August 5.

A new Chief Justice has to be recommended one month before the tenure of the incumbent one expires, according to the provision of the Constitution.
